The Journey Ahead
Since 1963, the Portland Japanese Garden has served as the rare place where one can be simultaneously enriched, educated and inspired. The Cultural Crossing campaign represents the opportunity to help shape the future of the Portland Japanese Garden. Building on its celebrated past, we have developed an expansion strategy to support the Garden’s changing needs – both today and in the future.
The Cultural Crossing expansion includes the Cultural Village with three LEED certified buildings designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma, an 18.5 foot tall and 185 foot long Castle Wall built by fifteenth-generation Japanese stone mason Suminori Awata, as well as five new beautiful garden spaces.
